Artlife Studio The Independent Art School
Our Mission
Artlife Studio Independent Art School was set up with the mission to nurture the natural creativity of children and adults across all disciplines of Art and Design.
Our Ethos
Is to strive to nurture artistic creativity, build confidence and provide an “accessible” art education to all. This enables all levels of our students to achieve substantial development through Artlife Studio’s teaching and exploration of art excellence.
Our Aims
Since it’s conception eight years ago Artlife Studio’s courses and programmes have expanded rapidly. This has allowed us to become one of the most personal and creative independent art schools in the Country.
Based from our beautiful studio which is nestled in 26 acres of stunning Buckinghamshire countryside we are a small independent school, our strengths lie in offering an individual approach to all our students and providing a creative, nurturing environment for them.
Artlife Studio offers a true art education with a difference, students in small class sizes are encouraged to come and explore how to push their creative boundaries through intimate, fun and structured classes. This educates and stimulates key areas of our students creative ability. As a starting point we encourage students to explore all disciplines of painting, printing, sculpture and drawing in a hands-on fun way, including insights into the artists who inspire our students work.
Artlife Studio has enabled students of all abilities to reach their creative potential whatever their initial level may be. For us it is the process and not the end result that is fundamental to understanding what it is to produce “Art”.
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” – Pablo Picasso
As well as providing an accessible education for all levels of Artlife students, we also run our own Scholarship Support Programme classes for more gifted pupils. These classes are designed to assist students with existing work as well as developing their portfolio presentations. The Scholarship Support Programme has resulted in a number of our students earning places to some of the best schools in the country.

Artlife Studio Adult Programmes
In 2023 Artlife Studio extended its creative offerings to adults and this has been received with huge success. Our extensive Adult Art Classes and Programmes are taught in weekly blocks at the studio and are aimed for students of all levels and abilities.
These classes are designed to explore many different disciplines and aspects of art including painting, drawing, printing, sculpting and Art history. Our Adult Classes are all taught under the same ethos and values which are upheld by us at Artlife Studio.

The Artlife Teaching Method
At Artlife Studio’s core, we believe that observation is key to mastering art. Instead of simply showing students how to draw or paint our method empowers them to see for themselves. This creates students that develop the skills needed to verify and evaluate their own work. Using this approach fosters independent learning, ensuring students are not reliant on their tutor but instead build a solid foundation for ongoing creative development.
A Proven Approach for All Levels
The teaching technique applied at Artlife Studio has been successful with students of all ages and abilities, from children and beginners to advanced adult artists. A key advantage of this approach is its consistency: all tutors are trained to use the same approach, ensuring clarity and continuity throughout the learning process. This consistency allows our students to progress steadily, gaining the confidence to explore and expand their creativity at their own pace.
MEET THE TEAM

Sarah is the Founder and creator of all the values and ethos we hold at Artlife Studio. She is a business woman an award-winning lecturer with a Distinction-level PG Cert in Creative Courses and a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts. With over 27 years of experience in education in Art and design from preschool, GCSE, A-level, foundation and Btec courses she has developed a unique teaching method that has been highly effective in unlocking the creative potential of students at all levels. Sarah realised the lack of creativity available to children and young people in mainstream education and the benefits gained if they are nurtured from an early age. Today she is the first point of contact to all new students to the school and directs, orchestrates and leads the Artlife values she upholds. Sarah is also responsible for training all staff to Artlife’s expected teaching methods. She heads up the incredible course programmes and workshops, actively teaching across all the ages and associated disciplines herself. She thrives on the student’s passion and loves to see the benefits and confidence achieved through the creativity she nurtures in class.

Daisy is incredibly arty and creative. She’s a student of the Arts and her gentle nature has a quiet hypnotic effect on our students which is marvellous to behold. She also has a mischievous side that she reveals in sporadic bursts of enthusiasm which is reflected in the children. Thanks for being you Daisy!
Daisy – Art Assistant

Gemma is an Art Assistant who has a special gift for working with shy, young students. She has a calm, warm presence that makes her approachable and instantly comforting to anyone who might feel a little uncertain about expressing themselves through art. Gemma knows that the creative process can be vulnerable, especially for young learners who might not yet have the confidence to fully share their ideas.
