The ARTLIFE Studio was set up with the aim of nurturing the natural creativity of children and young people across all disciplines of Art and Design.
With over 23 years’ experience of working in the Creative sectors and as a practising teacher at one of London’s leading Art and Design Universities, founder Sarah Thomas realised the lack of creativity available to children and young people in mainstream education and the benefits gained if they are nurtured from an early age.
This alone ignited her passion for ARTLIFE.
The studio offers a true art education with a difference. Students are encouraged to come and explore how to push their creative boundaries through fun structured classes that educate and stimulate key areas of creative ability in children and young adults aged between 4 years and 18 years.
We use workshops as a starting point to encourage children to explore painting, printing, sculpture and drawing in a hands on fun way.
For us it is the process, not the end result, that is fundamental to the understanding of experiencing what it is to produce “Art”.
Sarah is an award-winning lecturer who has a BA Hons Fashion & Textiles degree, a Distinction level PG Cert teaching qualification in Creative courses and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She has experience of teaching Art and Design across many levels from preschool all the way through to GCSE, A-level and BTEC. She currently teaches on the Art and Design and Media Foundation and BA Fashion courses at Ravensbourne University London.
She has extensive experience of business and marketing across the arts, having founded her own fashion brand in 2003, culminating in opening her own 1200 sqft store in Westfield White City.
“From my experience as a teacher and mother to 8-year-old twins, I believe that learning through making mistakes is a very important lesson. Pupils are encouraged to express themselves and take risks in creating art; through this they develop a sense of self, innovation and resilience all transferable skills. I believe all children are born artists. Art and creative thinking are powerful tools and need to be encouraged in our children – they are our future… My aim at ARTLIFE is to nurture these qualities in a fun and exciting way!”
