About the course

In this 5 week course we will study the art of reflection in our landscapes.

We will explore how to observe reflections in the world around us as well as capturing and building their effects into our own oil paintings. Multiple underpainting studies as well as final works will be achieved through this intensive 5 week course.

This course is tailored beautifully to follow previous courses, allowing students to apply their new love and knowledge of oils directly from underpainting through to finished colour pieces.

The course is also tailored for newcomers with beginner or intermediate experience who may also wish to explore this wonderful medium further.

You will explore

– Tonal values.
– Mark making.
– Preparing the canvas and mixing oil paints.
– Bringing mood and emotion to a scene.
– Perspective and depth.
– Importance of Composition.
– Foreground and detail painting.

On completion you will understand

– Understand composition and scale.
– Gain confidence in tone, perspective and depth creation.
– Have and understanding of brush selection.
– An awareness of colour mixing and manipulation of paint.
– Have a series of art studies in various media including a landscape oil painting on canvas.

This step by step course is designed to carry you gently through a process of techniques that will provide a solid foundation for students in landscape painting. Suitable for both beginners and intermediate artists who want to develop their skills.
