About the course

This course is designed to help artists find a way to express themselves by drawing and sketching with confidence. Its an excellent opportunity to explore drawing techniques through various mediums as well as encouraging preliminary studies for personal sketch book development.

Anyone can learn how to draw and simple step by step exercises encouraging processes, concepts and techniques are the key to unlocking someone’s true potential in both drawing and sketching.

Exploring art through drawing and sketching plays a crucial role in understanding any subject matter. Preliminary drawings and sketches are fundamental in developing composition, light, shade and often express an energy and capture a mood. These drawings studies can stand alone beautifully in their own right or equally enable valuable insights transferable to paintings and other final pieces.

This course is aimed at both beginners and intermediates with exciting and fun varied drawing exercises some timed to capture free flow spontaneous energy and immediacy while others designed to encouraging more considered refined approaches. The course allows multimedia exploration through pencil, pen, charcoal, watercolor, pastels amongst others. Subject matters will vary from landscape to still life and many others.

Insights into the lives of great master artists both modern and contemporary will also be explored along side the studies to gain an understand applied drawing and sketching techniques.

All materials supplied and all enrolling students will be gifted a beautiful A4 sketchbook to encourage personal development outside the studio.

6 week Course

-Figurative, Botanical, Animals

You will explore

– Mark making.

-Bringing mood and emotion to a study.

-Perspective and depth.

-Importance of Composition.

-Introduction to sketch book layouts

On completion you will understand

Understand composition and scale.

-Gain confidence in tone, perspective and depth creation

-Have a series of art drawing and sketch studies in various multimedia.

-Have an understanding of master artists who used sketching and drawing to enhance their own works

-Have in insight into their techniques.

About the artist

Richard is an English artist who has over 25 year’s experience within the creative arts. TheLightbound Artist (www.thelightboundartist.co.uk) tells of his own personal journey over the years.

Through landscapes in both the UK and aboard he tells a story through en plein air painting that captures the marvellous and melancholic effects of nature during brief moments of time.
